Venezianico Redentore Enigma separates hours and minutes on a layered green dial, with a 24-hour subdial and hand-aged Italian leather strap.
The central dauphine hand reads the minutes, while the smaller hand reads hours on a separate 24-hour scale. This regulator layout draws on 18th-century reference clocks, which separated the indications to give the minute hand a clear scale. Here, the arrangement leaves more of the dial open around the two rings.
The brass dial base is finished in green, with a sunburst pattern and a smoky gradient beneath lacquer. CNC-machined recesses hold the domed hour and minute rings, and the different levels are assembled by hand. The raised rings provide the reading scales, leaving the rest of the dial free of conventional hour markers.
Tuscan artisans age the edges of the green leather strap and brush the surface repeatedly to echo the dial’s darkening gradient. It closes with a pin buckle, continuing the color and shading beyond the case.
A Japanese NH39A automatic movement is modified for the two-hand regulator display. The 316L stainless steel case measures 40 mm across, 46.7 mm from lug to lug, and 11.4 mm thick, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, push-pull crown, and 5 atm water resistance. The Redentore collection takes its architectural inspiration from Andrea Palladio’s basilica in Venice.
Andrea Palladio’s Renaissance church on Venice’s Giudecca gives the collection its name. The balance of its architectural forms inspired the proportions of the watch case.
Read minutes from the large central hand and hours from the small subdial. The hour hand completes one circuit in 24 hours, so its position also distinguishes the first and second halves of the day. The two readings use separate scales rather than a conventional pair of central hands.
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
TMI, part of the Seiko group, supplies the Japanese NH39A automatic movement. Wrist motion turns its rotor to wind the mainspring, and it can also be wound by hand. The watch is made in Italy using this Japanese movement.
