Venezianico Redentore Bronzo pairs a hand-aged brass dial with a bronze case that keeps developing its patina as you wear it.
A hand-aged dial
A brass disc is polished, satin-finished, and bronzed. Targeted abrasions then expose the metal beneath for a weathered texture. The brown Italian leather strap is aged and brushed to match the dial.
A living bronze case
Each QAl9-4 aluminum-bronze case is cast in a mold and finished by hand. Unlike the dial, the case will keep changing with wear. Its steel back, held by six screws, sits between the bronze and your wrist.
The Horses of St. Mark
Bronze recalls Venice’s metalworking history and the Horses of St. Mark, ancient sculptures brought to the city in the 13th century. Their image is engraved on the 316L stainless steel case back in sandblasted and radial satin finishes.
The details
The Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement shows hours, minutes, and seconds, with no date. The bronze case measures 40 mm across, 46.7 mm lug to lug, and 10 mm thick.
An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, the crown is push-pull, and water resistance is rated at 50 meters. The strap fastens with a pin buckle. The Redentore takes its name and proportions from Palladio’s Venetian basilica.
Andrea Palladio’s Renaissance church on Venice’s Giudecca gives the collection its name. The balance of its architectural forms inspired the proportions of the watch case.
Oxidation gradually changes the bronze’s tone and surface. Moisture, handling, and exposure affect how the patina develops, so the color and rate of aging vary from case to case.
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
Miyota, part of the Citizen group, manufactures the 9039 in Japan. This 9-series automatic runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and also allows hand winding. Venezianico uses it in a watch made in Italy.
