Venezianico Nereide Ultrablack Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
Named after the Nereide, a submarine of Venetian naval engineering dating to 1919, the Nereide Ultrablack coats its dial in Musou Black™, a paint developed in Japan that absorbs 99.4% of light. Its Swiss BGW9 Super-LumiNova is white by day and glows blue-green in low light, and the case back carries the submarine Nereide engraved at its center. The 42 mm 316L stainless steel case stands 13.3 mm thick.
Beneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a Japanese Seiko NH35A automatic movement powers the hours, minutes and seconds. A 120-click bezel with a circular satin-finished 316L steel insert closes the case.
The watch is delivered on a black elastic nylon strap with a buckle.

What does the name Nereide refer to?
A submarine of 1919 that Venezianico describes as a marvel of Venetian naval engineering. The line is the diving collection of Venezianico, built around a rotating bezel. The brand was founded in late 2017 by the brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli while they were studying at Ca’ Foscari in Venice, and it works out of San Donà di Piave.
What is Musou Black?
A coating whose surface is built as a forest of microscopic cavities. Light that enters is trapped bouncing between them and 99.4 percent of it stays there, so the dial returns almost nothing and the eye reads it as an absence where it expects a color.
How does the dive bezel turn?
In 120 clicks, so each click is half a minute and the marker lands exactly where you set it. Set the marker to the minute hand at the start of a dive and read elapsed time off the scale from there.
What do you do if it has stopped?
Turn the crown about 20 times to put some wind in the mainspring, set the time, and put the watch on. From there the weight inside keeps it wound as long as you wear it most days.
How hard is the sapphire crystal?
Synthetic sapphire sits at 9 on the Mohs scale, just under diamond, so the everyday abrasives that mark a mineral crystal leave it untouched. It is brittle in exchange, so a sharp impact on the edge is what to avoid.
