On the blue dial of the Zeppelin Atlantic, an indicator beside the date shows how much power is left in the automatic movement.
A power reserve indicator
The indicator shows how much energy remains in the mainspring, so you can see when it is time to wear or wind the watch. A date window sits beside it. Silver numerals stand out on the blue dial, and luminous hands and hour markers help you read the time in low light.
Named for the Atlantic crossing
The Atlantic line takes its name from the transatlantic crossings of the early 20th century. Zeppelin airships began crossing the Atlantic in 1924.
The details
The Japanese Citizen 9133 automatic movement powers the hours, minutes, seconds, date, and power reserve indicator. It provides a 40-hour power reserve. The stainless steel case measures 42 mm across and 14 mm thick, and a hardened K1 mineral crystal covers the dial. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters.
The brown leather strap, 22 mm at the lugs, fastens with a pin buckle. The watch is made in Germany.
How much energy is left in the mainspring. When the hand nears empty, wearing the watch or giving the crown a few turns winds the mainspring again.
About 40 hours when fully wound. Daily wear keeps the mainspring wound. After a longer period off the wrist, a few turns of the crown will restart it.
K1 is mineral glass that has been heat-treated to harden it, so it resists scratches and impacts better than standard mineral glass. A deep scratch can’t be polished out, though.
8462-4 has a green dial and a 41 mm case. Both share the Citizen 9133 and the power reserve indicator.
It’s water resistant to 50 meters, but Zeppelin advises against wearing it in the shower or tub, or swimming in the ocean with it.
