Visconti’s Van Gogh Flowering Plum Orchard rollerball explores the artist’s Japanese inspiration in red acrylic resin with gold PVD trim.
Painted in 1887, Flowering Plum Orchard was the second oil painting Visconti chose from Van Gogh’s Japanese series. It follows Hiroshige’s Plum Garden in Kameido, with its ancient tree known as the “sleeping dragon plum tree.”
Van Gogh kept Hiroshige’s composition but intensified the colors, changing the black and gray trunk to red and blue. He framed it with two orange borders bearing Japanese characters. Visconti draws on that rich palette in red acrylic resin with gold PVD trim and an 18-facet form that emphasizes the resin’s colors.
The pen uses an original rollerball refill and closes with a magnetic cap.
Made in Italy, the pen measures 139 mm capped. The barrel is 126 mm long and 14.1 mm wide. It weighs 35 grams with the cap.
