Venezianico Redentore Ultrablack 36 sets its hands against a Musou Black™ dial that absorbs 99.4% of light, with a matching Italian leather strap.
Developed by Koyo Orient Japan, Musou Black™ is a paint applied to the brass dial base. By reflecting very little of the light that reaches it, the surface gives the impression of unusual depth. Only the logo and hands stand out against the black, leaving the display free of conventional hour markers.
The clean dial sits within a polished steel bezel and a case inspired by the balanced proportions of Andrea Palladio’s Basilica del Redentore in Venice. On the back, six screws surround an engraving of the basilica.
The Japanese NH35A automatic movement powers hours, minutes, and seconds inside the 36 mm 316L stainless steel case. The watch measures 42.2 mm from lug to lug and 10.4 mm thick, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a push-pull crown. Water resistance is rated at 3 atm.
A black Italian leather strap closes with a pin buckle, keeping the color continuous from the dial to the wrist.
Andrea Palladio’s Renaissance church on Venice’s Giudecca gives the collection its name. The balance of its architectural forms inspired the proportions of the watch case.
Musou Black™ is a Japanese paint that absorbs 99.4% of incident light. Very little light returns from the surface, reducing reflections and making the hands stand out against a dark background. It is a dial coating, not a luminous material.
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
TMI, part of the Seiko group, supplies the Japanese NH35A automatic movement. Wrist motion turns its rotor to wind the mainspring, and it can also be wound by hand. The watch is made in Italy using this Japanese movement.
