Venezianico Redentore Avventurina 40 brings the sparkle of Venetian blue glass to a slim steel watch with a matching Italian leather strap.
Aventurine glass developed in 17th-century Murano, where its copper inclusions created a sparkling surface reminiscent of a starry sky. The discovery is traditionally described as accidental, and the method was documented by 1644. Controlled cooling lets the bright inclusions form within the blue glass.
The glass is cold-cut like a hard stone into a 0.4 mm layer and mounted on brass. Even at that thickness, the glass retains its dark blue color and scattered copper reflections, with a brass base supporting it above the movement. A blue Italian leather strap repeats the dial’s color and closes with a pin buckle.
The Japanese NH35A automatic movement displays hours, minutes, and seconds inside a 40 mm 316L stainless steel case. Measuring 46.7 mm from lug to lug and 11 mm thick, the watch has an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a push-pull crown. Water resistance is rated at 5 atm.
The back is secured by six screws and engraved with the Basilica del Redentore, Andrea Palladio’s Venetian church and the architectural inspiration for the collection.
Andrea Palladio’s Renaissance church on Venice’s Giudecca gives the collection its name. The balance of its architectural forms inspired the proportions of the watch case.
The metallic inclusions are distributed within manufactured glass, so their positions and reflections can vary. The dial is cut from aventurine glass and mounted on brass. It is not a natural stone dial, despite the stone-like cutting and finishing process.
The aventurine glass is cut to a 0.4 mm layer and mounted on a brass base. The support allows a thin glass disc to become a finished dial while preserving the sparkle and depth of the inclusions.
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
