Venezianico Nereide Avventurina Nera pairs sparkling black glass with a polished tungsten bezel and a Swiss automatic movement in a 39 mm case.
Venetian glassmakers developed aventurine in the 17th century. Tiny metallic inclusions catch the light inside the glass, creating the appearance of stars across a dark sky. Its discovery is traditionally attributed to copper falling by chance into a glass mixture; the technique was documented by 1644.
Needle-like metallic inclusions stand out against the black glass. Cold-cut like a hard stone, the aventurine is reduced to a 0.4 mm layer and mounted on a brass base. After exposure to light, Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova on the hands and hour markers makes the time visible against the sparkling surface in low light.
A 120-click rotating bezel carries a polished tungsten insert. The 316L stainless steel case measures 39 mm across and 45.5 mm from lug to lug, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, and 20 atm water resistance.
The Swiss V3250 automatic movement, manufactured by Soprod, displays hours, minutes, and seconds without a date. The watch is 10.4 mm thick and is fitted with a Canova steel bracelet with a folding clasp.
Nereide takes its name from the submarine built in Venice in the early 20th century, a link to the city’s naval engineering.

What does the name Nereide refer to?
It was the name of a submarine built in Venice between 1911 and 1913. The collection draws on that chapter of Venetian naval engineering for its maritime identity and rotating-bezel design.
Will every aventurine dial have the same sparkle?
The metallic inclusions are distributed within manufactured glass, so their positions and reflections can vary. The dial is cut from aventurine glass and mounted on brass. It is not a natural stone dial, despite the stone-like cutting and finishing process.
Why use tungsten for the bezel insert?
The polished tungsten insert is highly scratch-resistant, helping it retain its finish during everyday wear. It is a separate component from the case and still needs protection from hard impacts.
How does the rotating bezel measure elapsed time?
Align the bezel’s reference marker with the minute hand at the start of an interval. As the hand advances, the scale shows elapsed minutes. With 120 clicks around a 60-minute scale, each click corresponds to half a minute. The bezel measures time independently of the movement.
How is the thin aventurine dial constructed?
The aventurine glass is cut to a 0.4 mm layer and mounted on a brass base. The support allows a thin glass disc to become a finished dial while preserving the sparkle and depth of the inclusions.
