Overview
Venezianico Nereide Aureo 42 brings a rippled, 24k gold-treated dial together with a tungsten bezel and a micro-adjustable Sansovino bracelet.
The dial’s uneven texture begins with tumbling, followed by polishing and a galvanic treatment that deposits a layer of pure 24k gold. The gold follows the uneven surface, catching the light along its ripples. Its color recalls Venice’s goldbeaters and the gold leaf used in the mosaics of St. Mark’s Basilica.
An engraving of the basilica’s nave on the case back continues that connection. The Sansovino bracelet, introduced with the Aureo, takes its name from Renaissance sculptor Jacopo Sansovino. Its five-link construction alternates two polished links with three satin-finished links, and micro-adjustment in the folding clasp allows small changes to the fit.
The 316L stainless steel case measures 42 mm across and 12.5 mm thick. A polished tungsten insert sits in the 120-click rotating bezel, with Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova for low-light illumination after exposure to light. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial. The Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement displays hours, minutes, seconds, and the date. The case measures 49 mm from lug to lug, with a screw-down case back, screw-down crown, and 20 atm water resistance.
The Nereide name recalls a submarine built in Venice in the early 20th century, linking the collection’s rotating-bezel design to the city’s naval history.

What does the name Nereide refer to?
It was the name of a submarine built in Venice between 1911 and 1913. The collection draws on that chapter of Venetian naval engineering for its maritime identity and rotating-bezel design.
Why use tungsten for the bezel insert?
The polished tungsten insert is highly scratch-resistant, helping it retain its finish during everyday wear. It is a separate component from the case and still needs protection from hard impacts.
How does the rotating bezel measure elapsed time?
Align the bezel’s reference marker with the minute hand at the start of an interval. As the hand advances, the scale shows elapsed minutes. With 120 clicks around a 60-minute scale, each click corresponds to half a minute. The bezel measures time independently of the movement.
How do I restart the watch after it has stopped?
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
What does sapphire’s hardness mean in everyday wear?
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
Is the Aureo dial solid gold?
No. A galvanic process deposits a layer of pure 24k gold over a prepared, rippled dial surface. The gold treatment supplies the color and reflection while retaining the texture created before plating.
