Overview
U-Boat Classico Sommerso DLC combines a graduated unidirectional bezel, three-level black dial with a visible ruby, and protected left-side crown.
Sommerso takes the Classico’s large numerals and left-side crown into a dive-watch design. Those features trace back to Ilvo Fontana’s unrealized 1942 naval watch drawings, revived by his grandson Italo in Lucca. Brushed steel frames the Arabic numerals on a black dial built from three overlapping layers. Beige Super-LumiNova defines the hands and hour markers, with a visible ruby at 6 o’clock. The graduated bezel turns in one direction for reading elapsed minutes.
The 46 mm 316L stainless steel case with black DLC coating has a screw-down crown beneath U-Boat’s patented protector on the left. Seven screws secure the back, engraved with a submarine mine; a separate plate on the case side carries the serial number. Anti-reflective sapphire protects the dial and incorporates a magnifying lens above the date window.
A Swiss U-28 automatic movement drives the hours, minutes, seconds, date, and 24-hour indication. It has 25 jewels and a 38-hour power reserve, and runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour.
The black DLC-coated 316L stainless steel bracelet has screw-adjusted links and a folding clasp. It measures 22 mm at the watch. Water resistance is rated at 30 atm.

How do I read elapsed time on the rotating bezel?
Align its reference marker with the minute hand at the start of an interval, then read elapsed minutes against the bezel scale. Its one-way rotation means an accidental turn can increase the elapsed time shown, rather than reduce it.
What does the 24-hour display tell me?
It distinguishes morning from evening. The main hour hand goes around the dial twice a day, while the 24-hour hand makes one full turn; read it against its own scale to tell, for example, 4 a.m. from 4 p.m.
What gives the Sommerso dial its depth?
Three overlapping dial layers create the relief around the numerals and markers. A visible ruby at 6 o’clock adds a small red detail within that layered construction.
