Overview
The Platinum Izumo Tagayasan Matte fountain pen puts the close grain of Bombay blackwood at the center of its hand-finished wooden exterior.
Bombay blackwood is dense and hard, qualities reflected in the name Tagayasan, which compares it to an iron sword. The wood is also used for furniture, interior woodwork, walking sticks, and wooden swords. Craftspeople dry it for 20 days to reduce moisture, then smooth and finish the parts by hand.
The matte finish keeps the close grain in view. The pen writes with a two-tone 18k gold nib and closes with a screw-on cap. For filling, choose ink cartridges or the included converter for bottled ink.
Made in Japan, it measures 164 mm capped with an 18.2 mm barrel width and weighs 38 g with the cap.
