The association of bamboo and sparrow is one of the most popular in the literary and artistic realm in Japan. The symbolism of bamboo is strong and positive, hence the Japanese proverb 'Bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists.' Namiki doubles the luck factor by representing it in pairs in its Yukari Chinkin Bamboo and Sparrow fountain pen. The sparrow, considered a songbird, brings good moments with family or friends. This scene, inviting to enjoy life and loved ones, was created with the delicate Chinkin technique, using Urushi and gold inlays. It requires great virtuosity and is mastered only by a few artisans specialized in lacquers. Artist: Artisan Yasuji Sum.
