The Namiki Capless Raden Stripes fountain pen features a series of stacked raden rectangles, creating a mirror effect, up and down, representing the way calm water reflects what is above. In addition to this effect, raden refractions intensify the effect, changing color as the piece is rotated. With the raden technique, the inner surface layer of various shells, such as turbans, trumpets, and ear-shaped shells, is peeled into a thin layer. They are then cut into small pieces and coated with Urushi lacquer to secure them in place. It is then polished to create a finish. This fountain pen comes with a retractable 18k gold nib plated in rhodium.
