The Bauhaus Aviation Tornado 24-Hour is a pilot’s watch with a black dial and a subdial that tells day from night.
A 24-hour subdial
The hand in the subdial at 9 o’clock turns once a day. A window on the dial shows the date.
Readable after dark
White numerals and indices with a luminous coating mark the black dial. Together with the luminous hands, they help you read the time in low light.
An official Tornado license
Bauhaus makes the Aviation Tornado pilot’s watches under an official license for the Tornado combat jet, which first flew in 1974. The aircraft’s name is printed on the dial.
The details
The Japanese Miyota 8217 automatic movement powers the hours, minutes, seconds, 24-hour hand, and date, and provides a 40-hour power reserve. A see-through case back reveals the rotor.
The satin-finished stainless steel case measures 42 mm across and 13 mm thick, and a K1 mineral crystal covers the dial. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters. The black perforated leather strap, 22 mm at the lugs, fastens with a pin buckle. The watch is made in Germany.

What is the 24-hour subdial for?
It shows the hour on a 24-hour scale, so 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. look different at a glance.
How long does the power reserve last?
About 40 hours when fully wound. Daily wear keeps the mainspring wound. After a longer period off the wrist, a few turns of the crown will start the watch again.
What is K1 mineral crystal?
A specially hardened mineral crystal. It resists scratches better than standard mineral crystal, though sapphire is harder still.
How does it differ from the 2764-5?
The 2764-5 has orange numerals. Both have the 42 mm case, the Miyota 8217 movement, and the 24-hour subdial.
Where is it made, and what is the warranty?
It’s made in Germany, uses a Japanese automatic movement, and comes with a 3-year warranty.
