Ball Engineer M Pioner Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
Limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide. Engineer M carries the movements Ball manufactures in-house, beginning with the RRM7309-C and its 80-hour reserve — the line named for Webster Clay Ball himself. The Pioner sets 51 gas tubes across the dial and hands, the densest array Ball fits to a watch showing hours, minutes and seconds. Its stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter and 13 mm thick.
COSC chronometer-certified, the Ball RRM7309-C provides an 80-hour power reserve. Its hands and indices are lit by 51 sealed glass tubes of tritium gas, each self-powered for 25 years, and the case around it absorbs impact to 2,500 Gs, with magnetic protection reaching 4,800 A/m.
Year after year, the 51 tubes give the same brightness, on their own energy.

What happens to the gas tubes over the years?
The 51 tubes hold tritium gas, which emits its own light through radioactive decay, continuously and on its own energy. Tritium has a half-life of 12.3 years, so the glow fades slowly. Ball rates the tubes for at least 25 years of useful reading.
What does COSC certification actually guarantee?
The movement was tested for 15 days by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres in 5 positions and at 3 temperatures, and it must hold an average daily rate between -4 and +6 seconds. The certificate covers the movement as tested, before it was cased.
Is it affected by magnets?
The case provides magnetic protection to 4,800 A/m, which covers the everyday sources that shift the rate of a mechanical watch.
How long does it run if I take it off?
The in-house movement holds 80 hours, so the watch is still running on Monday morning after a weekend in a drawer.
Does the crown screw down?
Yes. It threads into the case and compresses its gasket, which is what holds the water resistance. Unscrew it to set the time, and screw it back down before the watch goes near water.

How returns work. Just let us know and we'll email you a prepaid DHL Express return label — you never have to arrange a shipment or pay anything up front. The return cost is deducted from your refund. If the piece arrived damaged or wasn't what you ordered, the return is on us.
