Ball Engineer III Marvelight Chronometer Meteorite pairs a naturally patterned gray dial with a 40 mm case and bracelet of 904L stainless steel.
Cut from meteorite, the dial carries a crystalline pattern formed as the material cooled slowly over millions of years. That structure varies from one section of the meteorite to another, giving each dial its own pattern. A magnified date sits alongside the hours, minutes, and sweep seconds. Fifteen sealed tritium tubes illuminate the hands and hour markers continuously without an external charge.
Both the case and bracelet use 904L stainless steel, an alloy containing chromium, molybdenum, nickel, and copper for resistance to corrosion and acids. The 40 mm case measures 12.45 mm thick, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown. The matching bracelet fastens with a folding clasp.
The COSC-certified Ball RR1103-C automatic movement powers the time and date. A mu-metal shield of nickel, iron, copper, and molybdenum redirects static and low-frequency magnetic fields around the movement, providing resistance to 80,000 A/m (1,000 gauss). Amortiser adds a protective ring that absorbs lateral shocks around the movement. The watch is shock-resistant to 5,000 Gs, and the case is water-resistant to 10 atm.

Why is every meteorite dial different?
The crystalline pattern formed as the meteorite cooled very slowly over millions of years. Each section has its own structure, so the pattern changes from dial to dial. The photograph shows one example of that natural variation.
Does the gas-tube illumination need charging?
No. This watch uses 15 tritium gas tubes. Tritium inside each sealed glass tube activates a luminous coating continuously, without a battery or prior exposure to light. The glow gradually fades as the tritium decays, with a half-life of about 12.3 years.
Why are 904L steel and mu-metal both used in this watch?
They serve different purposes. The 904L steel forms the case and bracelet; its chromium, molybdenum, nickel, and copper content gives it resistance to corrosion and acids. A mu-metal shield inside the case redirects static and low-frequency magnetic fields around the movement to help protect its rate. The watch is rated to 80,000 A/m (1,000 gauss); stronger magnetic fields can exceed that protection.
What does COSC certification mean for this movement?
It passed independent chronometer testing over 15 days, in five positions and at three temperatures. The permitted average daily rate during the test is -4 to +6 seconds. This traditional test is performed before the movement is cased, so the watch’s rate in daily wear can vary.
Why is it important to secure the crown after setting?
After setting or winding, return the crown to its closed position and screw it fully into the case before contact with water. Correct closure is needed to maintain the rated water resistance.
