Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon NEDU combines a blue chronograph dial with a titanium case and an automatic helium-release valve built into the crown.
NEDU takes its name from the U.S. Navy Experimental Diving Unit, which develops operational diving and decompression procedures for the armed forces. The connection is reflected in the automatic helium-release valve built into the crown. During saturation diving, helium can enter a watch in a pressurized environment; the valve releases excess internal pressure as the surrounding pressure falls during decompression. The case is rated for water resistance to 60 atm.
A unidirectional chromed ceramic bezel frames the blue dial. Light-charged Super-LumiNova illuminates its markings, while 21 sealed tritium tubes on the hands, dial, and pushers glow continuously without charging. Ceramic gives the exposed timing surface resistance to corrosion, scratches, and color fading from ultraviolet exposure.
The titanium case measures 42 mm across and 17.3 mm thick, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and patented crown protection. The COSC-certified Ball RR1402-C automatic chronograph measures elapsed time up to 12 hours and has a 48-hour power reserve. Alongside the chronograph counters, the dial shows the weekday and date. The watch has a 7,500 Gs shock-resistance rating and magnetic resistance to 4,800 A/m.
A stainless steel and titanium bracelet closes with a folding clasp.
During decompression after saturation diving, the automatic valve releases excess pressure from inside the watch. Helium can enter the case in a pressurized, helium-rich environment; as the surrounding pressure falls, the valve lets it escape. Ball integrates it into the crown. The bezel and chronograph provide separate elapsed-time readings.
The 21 tritium tubes on the hands, dial, and pushers provide continuous light. The ceramic bezel uses Super-LumiNova, a luminous coating charged by exposure to light. Tritium inside each sealed glass tube activates a luminous coating continuously, without a battery or prior exposure to light. The glow gradually fades as the tritium decays, with a half-life of about 12.3 years.
Magnetic fields can disturb a mechanical movement’s rate. The magnetic-resistance rating describes its protection against that effect. The watch is rated to 4,800 A/m; stronger magnetic fields can exceed that protection.
It passed independent chronometer testing over 15 days, in five positions and at three temperatures. The permitted average daily rate during the test is -4 to +6 seconds. This traditional test is performed before the movement is cased, so the watch’s rate in daily wear can vary.
Yes, we are an Official Ball Authorised Dealer, and an authorised dealer for every brand we carry.
With over 15 years in the luxury market, we guarantee the authenticity and quality of every piece we sell.
Your order arrives brand new in its original Ball packaging, with all official documentation and the Ball warranty card, stamped and dated by us.
The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It doesn't cover normal wear and tear or accidental damage — and on watches, it doesn't cover straps, bracelets, or batteries.
