Zeppelin 100 Years Zeppelin Ed. 1 Automatic Chronograph Watch with Green Dial.
The 100 Years Zeppelin edition marks the centenary of the first Zeppelin flight of 1900 with the layout of a pilot’s chronograph. The 100 Years Zeppelin Automatic Chronograph brings a mechanical chronograph to the edition, in a stainless steel case of 42 mm across and 16 mm thick.
Under a sapphire crystal, a Swiss SW 510 automatic movement powers the date; the case back screws on.
White numerals and indices mark the green dial, complemented by luminous hands and framed by a tachymeter scale. A brown leather strap secures the watch with a pin buckle.
The centenary of the first Zeppelin flight, made by the LZ 1 over Lake Constance in 1900. The dials take the layout of the pilot’s chronographs of the airship era.
In Germany, at the Zeppelin in-house production in Ruhla, Thuringia. The movement comes from a Swiss or a Japanese maker, and the specification identifies it.
It converts elapsed time into speed over a known distance. Start the chronograph at the beginning of a measured mile and stop it at the end, and the scale gives the average speed.
Synthetic sapphire sits at 9 on the Mohs scale, just under diamond, so the everyday abrasives that mark a mineral crystal leave it untouched. It is brittle in exchange, so a sharp impact on the edge is what to avoid.
Sellita, in Switzerland. Its movements are serviced by watchmakers worldwide, and replacement parts remain readily available, which is how this German watch carries Swiss movement engineering.
