U-Boat Capsoil Darkmoon 44 Quartz Watch with Orange Dial.
In the Capsoil line, the case is filled entirely with low-viscosity oil, so the dial is read through the fluid bath under a compensation bubble that absorbs thermal expansion between 0 and 60 °C. The Capsoil Darkmoon takes the 44 mm case into the color range, matching the strap to the dial. At 44 mm in diameter and 17 mm in thickness, the case is PVD.
Submerged in the oil, a Swiss Ronda 762 quartz movement operates sealed beneath a curved sapphire crystal. The crown screws down, while a Locking Ring System on the case back provides access to the battery and the oil without requiring factory intervention.
Orange, the dial is in painted metal. It comes on an orange silicone strap, closed by a steel tongue buckle with PVD treatment.

What is the oil inside the case for?
It fills the space between the dial and the crystal. Light travels through the oil at close to the same speed as through the crystal, so the reflection falls away and the hands read as if they sat on the surface. An air bubble takes up the change in volume as the temperature moves.
Where does the U-Boat design come from?
From a drawing Ilvo Fontana made in 1942 for the Italian naval military forces, a diving watch that remained on paper. His grandson Italo Fontana revived it in Lucca and founded U-Boat on its proportions and on the crown set on the left side of the case.
What is the coating on the case?
Physical vapor deposition. The coating metal is vaporized in a vacuum chamber and bonded to the steel as a hard layer, which holds up to daily abrasion far better than electroplating of the same thickness.
Where is the movement from?
Switzerland. The movement reference stays out of the catalog here, and what U-Boat states is a Swiss quartz movement, which on the oil-filled references means one selected to operate submerged in the fill.
Will it fit under a shirt cuff?
It stands 17 mm thick, so a fitted cuff will catch on it while a loose one passes over. This watch reads as an object on the wrist, and that depth is part of what carries the dome over the dial.
