The Vostok Europe Jurgis Kairys Unlimited Aerobatics, limited to 500 individually numbered watches, pairs a meca-quartz chronograph with colors drawn from Kairys’s Su-31.
A meca-quartz chronograph
The TMI VK68 keeps time with quartz and drives its chronograph through a mechanical module. The chronograph times intervals of up to 60 minutes, with a central seconds hand and a 60-minute counter. A mechanical reset device snaps the hands back to zero instantly. A subdial carries a 24-hour indicator.
A telemeter ring
The matte black dial carries applied metal indexes and a telemeter scale on a green, red, and yellow ring. When the chronograph is started at a flash of lightning and stopped at the sound of thunder, the scale gives the distance to the storm.
Named for Jurgis Kairys
Lithuanian aerobatic pilot and engineer Jurgis Kairys, an FAI World Grand Prix overall winner, helped develop the Sukhoi Su-31 he flies. Vostok Europe developed the line with him, and the red and black straps take their colors from that aircraft.
The details
The Japanese-made TMI VK68 meca-quartz chronograph movement powers the hours, minutes, seconds, date, central chronograph seconds, 60-minute counter, and 24-hour indicator.
The 316L stainless steel case, finished in black PVD, measures 43 mm across, 52.6 mm lug to lug, and 15.3 mm thick. A domed K1 crystal, a hardened mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating, covers the dial. Super-LumiNova coats the hands and indexes. The bezel is fixed, the solid case back screws down, and water resistance is rated at 200 meters.
The watch comes with a red silicone strap and a black silicone strap, both 22 mm at the lugs and fastened with a buckle. The watch ships in a Vostok Europe paper box.

A quartz caliber with a mechanically driven chronograph module. Quartz keeps the time, and the central chronograph hand is actuated mechanically, allowing it to reset instantly to zero.
A synthetic crystal that combines the shock resistance of hardened mineral glass with scratch resistance close to that of sapphire. On this watch, the crystal has an anti-reflective coating to improve readability.
The case measures 52.6 mm from lug to lug. That span across the top of the wrist matters more for fit than the 43 mm case diameter.
TMI, a movement maker in Japan’s Seiko Group. Vostok Europe, founded in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2003, has used Japanese movements since 2010 and stopped using Russian ones in 2014. The case is assembled in Lithuania around this quartz caliber.
