The Platinum #3776 Century Chartres Blue takes its color from the stained glass of Chartres Cathedral, with etched lettering adding detail to the design.
Chartres Cathedral’s blue stained-glass windows give this finish its name and inspiration. Their influence finds a new expression in the blue resin, while etched cap-ring lettering adds another play of light to the design.
Etching gives the cap-ring lettering its depth. A mask protects the design while an etching fluid acts on the exposed metal, leaving recessed detail and a three-dimensional effect. The process takes time, but gives the logo an appearance that shifts with the direction of the light.
Made in Japan, the pen has a 14k gold nib and accepts ink cartridges or a converter for bottled ink. It measures 139.5 mm capped and 153 mm posted, with a barrel length of 119 mm and a barrel width of 16 mm. It weighs 20 g with the cap and 15 g without it.
