Caran d’Ache’s Ecridor Racing mechanical pencil set borrows radiator-grille patterns and brake-light red for a matte black design with a matching leather case.
Machine-cut guilloché recalls racing-car radiator grilles, while red lacquer applied by hand along two edges picks up the color of brake lights. A sand finish gives the black chrome coating its matte surface over the hexagonal brass body. Palladium-plated components include a flexible clip and a push button with a laser-engraved Caran d’Ache logo.
Made in Switzerland, the pencil advances its 0.7 mm graphite leads with a push-button mechanism and includes a replaceable eraser. It measures 131 mm long and 8 mm in diameter.
The accompanying case is black grained calfskin with a red line that echoes the pencil’s accents. Pencil and case come in a cardboard drawer box with a removable red sleeve, measuring 19 x 14 x 4 cm.
