The Pelikan Souverän M600 Art Collection Georg Tippel fountain pen reinterprets an 1899 poster through guilloché, translucent lacquer, and warm brown resin.
For the third edition in its Art Collection, Pelikan returns to Grundfarben, Georg Tippel’s entry in the brand’s first international poster competition in 1899. The clouds in the poster’s sky become an abstract, flowing pattern around the barrel, bringing a specific detail of the artwork into the fountain pen’s design.
The original scene shows a pelican feeding its young, an image drawn from a historical legend. Pelikan connects it with care, responsibility, and continuity. A miniature reproduction in the presentation case lets you see the full scene and trace the barrel’s cloud motif back to its source.
The Aurora process builds the decoration from finely engraved guilloché beneath layers of translucent lacquer. The engraving shows through the lacquer, giving the pattern depth and an iridescent effect. Semi-transparent brown resin and 24-karat gold-plated details frame the decorated barrel in warm tones.
Made in Germany, the M600 has a two-tone 14-karat gold nib, a built-in piston filling system for bottled ink, and a screw-on cap.

Which part of the poster inspired the barrel?
