Limited to 50 watches, the U-Boat Profondo 10001 3600/A sets genuine meteorite into its hand-aged dial, in a titanium case pressure-tested to 10,001 meters.
A fragment of meteorite on the dial
At 6 o’clock, the small fragment of meteorite connects the deep-sea design to space. It sits within a three-level metal dial, aged and oxidized by hand for an uneven, weathered surface. Beige Super-LumiNova on the metal hands, numerals, and hour markers gives them a clear outline against the dial.
Built for extreme depth
The case is 27 mm thick. An optical sapphire lens 9.7 mm thick sits over the dial. An anti-reflective coating on the lens helps you see the dial beneath it. The case has a screw-down crown and a unidirectional bezel, and an automatic helium valve at 3 o’clock balances the pressure inside.
Rooted in a 1942 naval design
U-Boat began with Ilvo Fontana’s 1942 plans for an Italian Navy watch that was never built. His grandson Italo revived the design in Lucca.
The details
The case measures 46 mm across. The titanium back is secured by the Locking Ring System.
The Sellita SW 200 automatic movement, modified to U-Boat’s specifications, displays the hours, minutes, and seconds. It has 26 jewels, a 41-hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. A custom skeletonized metal rotor turns as you move your wrist, winding the watch.
The aged leather strap is handcrafted and hand-painted by Tuscan artisans. It measures 22 mm at both ends and closes with a 22 mm titanium pin buckle. A titanium bracelet that matches the case is also included, so you can switch between the two. The watch is made in Italy.
A genuine meteorite insert sits at 6 o’clock within the hand-aged, oxidized metal dial. It connects the watch’s deep-sea inspiration with material from space, while the three dial levels and beige luminous details give the face its relief.
The valve at 3 o’clock automatically balances pressure inside the case. It is a separate component from the screw-down crown used for winding and setting the time.
The watch comes on an aged leather strap handcrafted and hand-painted by Tuscan artisans, with a 22 mm titanium buckle. An additional titanium bracelet is supplied, giving you a metal alternative to the leather strap.
