Overview
U-Boat Capsule 50 Titanium recalls 1930s bathyspheres, with a thick, domed sapphire crystal and a round window in the side of the case.
The rounded case and thick, domed sapphire recall the viewing ports of 1930s bathyspheres, giving Capsule its steampunk appearance. A smaller circular sapphire window in the side continues the underwater theme. Inside, three overlapping black metal dial layers frame an opening through which the crown-release linkage can be seen.
This 50 mm version is made of grade 5 titanium and is limited to 90 watches. Its case is 23.3 mm thick. A patented lever at 10 o’clock releases the protected crown on the left. Four external screws hold the laser-engraved back in place, with a separate screwed-on serial-number plate identifying the watch.
The Swiss Sellita SW 200 automatic movement is customized to U-Boat’s specifications, with a skeletonized rotor, 26 jewels, and a 41-hour power reserve. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and displays hours, minutes, seconds, and date, along with a 24-hour indication on this titanium version. Brushed metal numerals and markers give the dial further texture, with beige Super-LumiNova on those details and the hands. Anti-reflective treatment coats the front sapphire crystal.
Laser-cut brown calfskin is worked and finished by hand to give the strap its naturally aged appearance. Waxed cotton stitching follows the leather, which narrows from 23 mm at the watch to 22 mm at the buckle. A titanium pin buckle completes the strap, and water resistance is rated at 10 atm.

How does the crown-release mechanism fit into the design?

What does the 24-hour display tell me?
It distinguishes morning from evening. The main hour hand goes around the dial twice a day, while the 24-hour hand makes one full turn; read it against its own scale to tell, for example, 4 a.m. from 4 p.m.
