The Esterbrook Estie Nouveau Bleu fountain pen draws on Alphonse Mucha’s Art Nouveau blues, with a polished finish that recalls the look of vintage celluloid.
Flowing figures, elaborate lettering, and soft colors are hallmarks of Alphonse Mucha’s illustrations. Nouveau Bleu takes its cue from the eau-de-nil blue he used in drapery, skies, wings, and water. The artist made his name in Belle Époque Paris in the 1890s, notably through his theater posters for Sarah Bernhardt, including Gismonda.
The blend of blues also recalls vintage celluloid pens, with a polished finish that links the Art Nouveau palette to the history of pen making. To introduce Nouveau Bleu, Esterbrook commissioned calligrapher and illustrator Debra Dick to create a painting that combined Mucha’s influence with her own drawing and lettering style.
Gold-tone trim frames the blue finish. For ink, the pen accepts cartridges or a converter that fills from a bottle. The nib is made in Germany by JoWo; Esterbrook’s cushion closure adds a second seal inside the cap to help keep it from drying out between uses.

You have 30 days from delivery to return your order.
How returns work. Just let us know and we'll email you a prepaid DHL Express return label — you never have to arrange a shipment or pay anything up front. The return cost is deducted from your refund. If the piece arrived damaged or wasn't what you ordered, the return is on us.
