Ball Fireman Victory Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
Fireman inherits the practicality of the railroad watches directly, in the simplest cases Ball builds. The Victory is the plainest reading of the Fireman: the watch a railway fireman would have carried a century ago, reduced to hours, minutes, seconds and a day. Its stainless steel case measures 40 mm across and 11.6 mm thick.
The Ball RR1103 provides a 38-hour power reserve, and its hands and indices are lit by 14 sealed glass tubes of tritium gas, each one self-powered for 25 years. Around it, the case absorbs impact to 5,000 Gs.
All 14 tubes glow without interruption, so the watch reads the same at 3 a.m. as at noon.

What happens to the gas tubes over the years?
The 14 tubes hold tritium gas, which emits its own light through radioactive decay, continuously and without any outside energy. Tritium has a half-life of 12.3 years, so the glow fades slowly. Ball rates the tubes for at least 25 years of useful reading.
Does the crown screw down?
Yes. It threads into the case and compresses its gasket, which is what holds the water resistance. Unscrew it to set the time, and screw it back down before the watch goes near water.
What does 5,000 Gs of shock resistance mean?
It is the impact the movement is built to take and still keep its rate — the order of a watch knocked hard against a door frame, or dropped onto a wooden floor from waist height.
Why is the line called Fireman?
From the railroads. The fireman rode with the engineer and kept the fire, and the watches carried by railway crews under Ball's inspection standard had to be plain, legible and right. The line keeps that brief.

"Check delivery date" — the piece is available to order, but we confirm the exact date with the brand. As soon as you order, we contact the manufacturer and email you an estimated date.

You have 30 days from delivery to return your order.
How returns work. Just let us know and we'll email you a prepaid DHL Express return label — you never have to arrange a shipment or pay anything up front. The return cost is deducted from your refund. If the piece arrived damaged or wasn't what you ordered, the return is on us.
