The shooting star is cosmic dust that vaporizes upon contact with the air, leaving behind a bright trail of gas. Now, the Japanese house Namiki presents the shooting stars in this Yukari fountain pen, using the Raden and Togidashi Maki-e techniques. Raden involves peeling off the inner surface layer of various shells in a thin layer, cutting them into small pieces, coating them with Urushi lacquer to secure them, and then polishing to create a polished finish. Togidashi Maki-e is used to create the main design; then, the entire body is covered with Urushi lacquer, and after drying, the design is revealed by polishing the lacquer with charcoal.
I found Iguana really friendly, helpful and efficient to both buy the pen and when I had a query - very quick to respond. The pen is gorgeous and I’m now using it every day.
