Kabuto is the Japanese term that means "samurai helmet." Small children often make Kabuto origamis to display on May 5th, the Japanese national holiday called Kodomo no hi (Children's Day). The day celebrates the wishes of Japanese culture for happy and healthy children. This Namiki Nippon Art fountain pen was created through a collaboration of maki-e artists (Kokkokai) and features the Hira Maki-e technique (flat maki-e); where the main lacquered design is adorned with sprinkled gold and silver powders. Multiple additional layers of lacquer are then applied. Once the lacquer has hardened, it is polished.
I found Iguana really friendly, helpful and efficient to both buy the pen and when I had a query - very quick to respond. The pen is gorgeous and I’m now using it every day.
